Blink-182 Delivers High-Energy Set In Charleston On Labor Day

On a cooler-than-normal Labor Day, pop-punk legends Blink-182 stopped in Charleston at the Credit One Stadium for the “Missionary Impossible Tour.” Though it was just the third show of the tour, Blink-182 was already dialed in. The classic trio of Mark Hoppus (bass/co-lead vocals), Tom DeLonge (guitar/co-lead vocals) and Travis Barker (drums/vocals) were in rare form on this holiday Monday.

A curtain was placed to conceal the setup of the stage as the nearby pit waited in anticipation. Once the curtain fell, it was time to rock out with “The Rock Show.” Blink-182 continued with the catchy “First Date.” The graffiti-filled walls placed around the band created an intimate performance space on stage.

After each song, Hoppus and DeLonge would engage in playful and sometimes raunchy dialogue with each other and the crowd. It was middle-school humor – fitting, since many in the crowd were actually in middle school during Blink-182’s peak years.

After “Josie,” Hoppus mentioned they have been watching the “Southern Charm” reality series set in Charleston. After DeLonge said some cheeky things about a pillow maker on the show, Hoppus quipped, “Shouldn’t you quit the band again?” This was referring to when DeLonge left the band from 2015 to 2022. Fittingly, Alkaline Trio is also on the bill, making the tour feel full circle. Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba joined Blink-182 as DeLonge’s replacement during his absence.

Hoppus asked the audience, “Would you like Travis to sing a song for you?” The fan-favorite Barker then sang the 30-second “F–K FACE,” from 2023’s “One More Time…” The song consisted of the repeated lyrics “Shut up, you talk too much!” The walls on stage were removed before “Feeling This.”

Before “TURPENTINE,” Hoppus gave a shout-out to the tennis facility venue and the Charleston Open. DeLonge jumped in with his opinion on girls who play tennis. Later, during a moment of jokingly buying time, they discussed alligators in the Charleston area.

“Stay Together for the Kids” received a rousing reaction. As Hoppus noted, it was a song about DeLonge’s parents getting divorced.

During “Roller Coaster,” Barker got to perform a drum solo. Hoppus mentioned they haven’t played that song on tour since like 2001.

After “DANCE WITH ME,” Hoppus teasingly played the one bass note he said he missed during the Ramones inspired song. The pit was really rocking out – a crowd surfer could be seen losing themselves in the moment.

Fans got in on the action with a singalong during “I Miss You.”

It was nearing the end of the show when they pulled out a cover of “Hope” by the Descendents.
They then performed the Blink-182 classics “What’s My Age Again?” and “All the Small Things.” Sperm shaped confetti rained down on the masses.

It was time for the encore with “Dammit.” The bridge included the Labor Day lyrics from “Happy Holidays, You Bastard.” An aflame middle finger at the back of the stage signified the show was over.

After a bow, Blink-182 was played off the stage by the theme of “Charles in Charge.”

This Blink-182 show was the perfect way to end the long Labor Day weekend. The recently reunited classic lineup of Blink-182 proved they still have the energy and chemistry to deliver a powerful show. This tour will continue across the U.S. before ending in California in early October.
